Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on human development in Maluku. This can be seen from the slowdown in the growth of the Human Development Index (HDI) in 2020 compared to 2018 and 2019, which grew 0.997 percent and 0.84 percent. Maluku HDI in 2020 is 69.49 or growing 0.06 percent compared to the previous year's achievement. However, the HDI for Maluku could increase by 0.04 points.

The slowdown in HDI growth in 2020 was greatly influenced by a decrease in the adjusted average per capita expenditure. This indicator decreased from 8.89 million rupiah in 2019 to 8.73 million rupiah in 2020.

In terms of education, in 2020 children aged 7 years have the hope of being able to enjoy 13.96 years of education or almost the equivalent of the length of time to complete education up to Diploma II level. This figure increased by 0.02 years compared to the previous year which reached 13.94 years. In addition, the average length of schooling for residents aged 25 years and over is still increasing by 0.12 years, from 9.81 years in 2019 to 9.93 years in 2020.

In terms of health, babies born in 2020 have the expectation to live up to 65.98 years, 0.16 years longer than those born in the previous year.
